A wonderful variety originally grown on the Coville Indian Reservation in Washington State near the Canadian border. Is a very popular braidable softneck garlic that has a pleasant mild taste. It is a dependable variety that produces a high proportion of very large bulbs when grown under optimal conditions (high fertility and adequate moisture).
In very cold climates or when grown under stressful conditions such as drought some plants may bolt or form bulbils in the stem, however, these do not need to be removed for good bulb size. Bolting does not affect the quality of the bulbs.
It produces bulbs with medium sized cloves. Requires high soil Nitrogen to size up properly and should be harvested once the first two or three leaves have started to brown.
Bulbs have 8 to 12 cloves and stores for up to a year.
Listed in the Seeds of Diversity Canada catalogue of heritage varieties.
