Seeds will store for at least 1 to 2 years.

Description

Red Clover is an extremely versatile plant species, making it one of the most widely used cover crop choices for growers across Canada and the United States. It thrives in many different soils and under variable growing conditions.

It is often planted with other cover crop species to help improve fertility. A healthy stand of Red Clover can fix up to 120 lbs of nitrogen per acre (3 lbs/1000 sq. ft). Deep taproots also allow the plants to access nutrients lower down in the soil profile and slowly release them when the leaves and roots decompose.

Red Clover attracts many beneficial insects, provides flowers for pollinators and supports microbial life in the soil. The thick roots create soil-penetrating channels allowing better internal drainage.

Once established, Red Clover is a good weed suppressor. It can self-seed if left alone, be mowed 2 to 3 times per season and handle large amounts of foot traffic.

When used as a cover crop, it can be planted as a winter annual, biannual or short-lived perennial. It is hardy to zone 3, however, easily survives winter in colder zones with good snow cover.

Can be used with EcoTea Seed Inoculant for increased nutrient efficiency, improved root development and higher disease resistance.
