Ordering & Shipping

2018 Order Date

For the 2018 season, we will likely start taking orders last week of July or first week of August, depending on when the garlic is harvested. Ordering early is important if you have specific varieties that you are looking for as we often sell out quickly. Most years we sell out of everything by early to mid-September. If you have any questions about the ordering process or want to enquire about the health of the garlic crop prior to the opening day, contact us and we can give you an update.

Shipping Process

We only ship to Canadian mailing addresses (Canada Post). We cannot ship to the United States or internationally. 

All regular orders have a shipping & handling fee based on location and will be added to the order (minimum $20 fee for each shipment). Orders are shipped using Canada Post. In fall we start shipping from late August until mid-September. Later placed orders that require shipping after October 1st may have a risk of freezing depending on the weather and where the garlic is being shipped in Canada. Although garlic cloves are tolerant of freezing in most cases, we are not responsible for any freezing damage that occurs to late ordered garlic.

Spring Shipping usually starts at the beginning of April after the risk of freezing is over.

Ordering Process

Online Orders

Our online ordering system is conveniently open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week once we begin taking orders in August. The secure shopping cart accepts both credit cards and PayPal as payment options. This is our preferred option for taking orders, as it is simple, automated and ensures you get the garlic choices you want. With our online system, your order is instantly inputted and you're garlic is immediately reserved for you. It's safe, quick and easy! 

Phone or Email

We can take your order over the phone or by email, however we will not secure your garlic variety choices until we receive a credit card, e-transfer, certified check. Remember that many of our garlic varieties sell out quickly so we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get all your preferred choices.

Bulk Orders

Bulk discounts are usually listed on the online store if they are available. If you have any specific questions just contact us and we can go over whatever information you need. 

Garlic Sizes

Garlic sizes are generally listed with each variety and are as follows:

Jumbo    = 2.5" - 3" 
X-Large  = 2.25" - 2.5"
Large      = 2" - 2.25"
Medium  =  1.75" - 2"
Small      = 1.5" - 1.75" 


Replacements, Returns and Refunds

We always want our customers to be satisfied with what they have ordered. The garlic you receive should be in good condition. If you have moldy cloves or damaged product when you receive it, notify us immediately (including a picture) within three days and we will either refund the cost or send you new bulbs (depending on availability).

If garlic bulbs are returned for any reason, they must be in original good condition and received by John Boy Farms within 10 days. A 35% restocking fee will be charged and a refund of the remainder will be given. No orders can be returned after September 10th.

Due to the harsh nature of the Canadian climate and a large number of variables involved in growing agricultural crops, we only guarantee that the garlic you order will be in good condition when you receive it. John Boy Farms is not responsible for any damage or degradation that occurs once the garlic has been shipped or received by the customer. This includes (but is not limited to) damage during storage, cracking, planting or growing.
