Soil Building Cover Crops
BENEFITS & USES
Soil-building cover crops are primarily grown to protect and improve soil health. They are often planted with legumes in order to increase fertility. The majority of the soil-building species are grasses with extensive root systems or broadleaf plants with succulent growth that breaks down easily, feeding the soil biology and improving soil structure. They tend to germinate quickly and develop top growth. This means they are great at suppressing weeds and often reach maturity within a very short growing period.
